The following substances may inhibit absorption and effectiveness of homeopathic; please avoid if possible!
Mint including candy, chewing gum, mouthwash, toothpaste, etc. It is fine to use minty products, just wait until minty flavor is gone to take remedies –usually about 10 minutes. Mint is such a strong flavor it can block absorption of the remedies.
Any strong flavored foods, drink or anything that leaves a lingering taste in your mouth, like cigarettes or chocolate. For best remedy absorption, your mouth needs to be free of all flavors. To speed washing flavors out of your mouth, drink a glass of water and swish it around your mouth. Or just wait about 10-15 minutes until the flavor is gone.
Take nothing by mouth at least 5 minutes before and after taking homeopathic remedies. If you are going to smoke or drink caffeinated beverages please extend the wait time to 20 minutes between taking remedies and drinking or smoking. As a side note, depending on your personal sensitivity to caffeine or nicotine, taking anything with caffeine or nicotine (coffee, tea, chocolate, carbonated drinks, etc.) may wipe out your remedies completely. If you don’t think your remedies are working, consider cutting out these substances while taking remedy therapy.
All homeopathic remedies may be taken together. Hold homeopathic remedy under the tongue at least 10 seconds before swallowing.
Liquitrophics (Liquessences) are considered hybrid homepathics and may be taken with meals, mixed with water or juice if necessary. Swallow liquitrophic remedies immediately.
For alcohol sensitivity, remedies may be diluted in two or three ounces of purified hot water. Allow a few minutes before taking to allow alcohol to evaporate.
Store remedies in a cool, dry place, but avoid refrigerators. Keep remedies away from direct sunlight, excessive heat (over 120 F) metal, all electrical appliances and microwaves. When flying, try to pack your remedies in checked luggage, well protected from breakage. The remedies can be x-rayed during security, but it is not preferable due to the differences in machine strengths and calibrations.
Homeopathic remedies will not interfere with prescription drugs. We are not a primary health care facility. We cannot and will not advise you to stop taking prescription medication while taking homeopathics.
Adult dosages
1 or 2 ounce “dropper” remedies: 7 drops, 3 times per day.
4 ounce remedies: one teaspoon, once a day.
Remedies do not need to be taken at strict times. Three times a day does not mean morning, noon and night. As long as there is at least 15 minutes between dosages you can develop your own pattern for taking remedies. We recommend taking dropper remedies under the tongue first thing in the morning, then an hour later after morning routine but before leaving the house for the day. The last dose could be taken at bedtime, 10 minutes after brushing teeth (to let strong minty flavors dissipate) before bed.
While homeopathics are considered safe, they may intensify current symptoms or cause old symptoms to reappear during the detoxification process. This is a natural way of restoring balance. We believe our goal of “harmony in moderation” is best attained by taking the remedies at dosages that stimulate the healing process but not cause undue stress. If the process becomes too uncomfortable we recommend you try one of the following options:
When adverse responses are related to homeopathics, they occur typically within two or three days of starting remedies. If you feel it necessary, remedies can be antidote by taking a small amount of caffeine. Otherwise, simply stop taking them for a day or two. Note any change in symptoms. If they subside, chances are homeopathic remedies were involved. We suggest you then continue taking the remedies at half the original dose. If the symptoms persist, you may reduce the dose even further, to just one or two drops a day. The maximum recommended dose is not required to generate a positive result! If, on the other hand, your symptoms do not subside, chances are the homeopathics are not involved and no harm would be incurred from continuing them. If your body allows try to increase the dose gradually to the original recommendation. Otherwise, stay at the maximum comfortable dose you have determined for yourself. If the above suggestions fail to alleviate the problem and you still suspect the homeopathic remedies are involved, please contact your Homeopathic Practitioner.
We are not a primary health care facility. When symptoms are present we encourage you to see your family physician.
